PepApps (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the TruChats mobile application (the “App”). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our App and the choices you have associated with that data.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
To provide you with the messaging and social experience of TruChats, we collect several different types of information.
When you register for TruChats, we may ask you to provide:
Email Address: Used for authentication and account recovery.
Username: Displayed to other users.
Profile Picture: To identify you in chats and search results.
We collect and store the content you create and share:
Messages: Text messages sent to other users.
Media: Photos and videos captured via the App’s camera or uploaded from your gallery.
Stories: Images or videos posted to your temporary status (Story), which are visible for 24 hours.
To function correctly, TruChats requests access to specific features on your device:
Camera: To take photos and videos for chats and stories.
Microphone: To record audio for video messages.
Storage/Gallery: To save incoming media and upload existing photos/videos.
We collect technical data about how you interact with the App:
Online Status: We display your “Online” status to other users unless you disable this in Settings.
Last Seen: We store timestamps of when you were last active.
Theme Preferences: Your choice of Light or Dark mode.
We use the collected data for the following purposes:
To Provide Service: To deliver messages, display stories, and facilitate real-time communication.
To Authenticate: To verify your identity and prevent unauthorized access (via Google Firebase).
To Improve the App: To understand usage patterns (e.g., popular features).
To Manage Preferences: To remember your settings, such as your decision to hide your Online Status.
TruChats is built using Google Firebase services. Your data (authentication credentials, database messages, and media files) is stored securely on Google Cloud servers. By using the App, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to and processed in server locations managed by Google.
Delete for Me: If you choose “Delete for Me,” the message is hidden from your device view. However, the message may remain on the recipient’s device and our servers as part of the chat history.
Delete for Everyone: If you choose “Delete for Everyone,” we update the record to reflect that the message has been deleted. The original text content is overwritten.
We do not sell your personal data. We may share your data in the following situations:
With Other Users: Your username, profile picture, and “Online” status are visible to people you chat with.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose your data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).
Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: Request that we correct any inaccurate information (e.g., updating your profile name).
Deletion: Request that we delete your account and associated data. You can usually do this within the App settings or by contacting us.
TruChats does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
